Synopsis

The Triple-A Championship Series between the Batts and Falcons is deadlocked at three wins apiece, thanks to setup man Goro's efforts. Then, in a shock twist, Gibson Jr.—already promoted to the majors—comes all the way back for the decider. Struck out by Goro's 102-mph heat in their last clash, Jr. announces his revenge by smashing a towering homer right in front of Goro on the bench. With father Joe Gibson watching, the fated son and rival collide again. One out from the end, Game 7 puts Goro's growth to the ultimate test.

The final game becomes a see-saw war of attrition, and the Goro–Gibson Jr. rematch decides the whole series. But Jr.'s bat and the Falcons' depth prove too much, and the Batts fall just short of the title. Goro's Triple-A run ends one step from the summit. Even so, through the fierce duel with Jr. he grasps a real sense of progress and proof of his growth. Joe Gibson finally acknowledges his son's ability, and their lingering rift begins to heal. Closing out his first year in America, Goro sets his sights on the next big stage: the Baseball World Cup.
