Synopsis

On the night the once wildly popular DMMO-RPG "Yggdrasil" finally shuts down, the guild master of the mighty guild Ainz Ooal Gown waits alone for the very end. But past the shutdown hour he cannot log out, and the NPCs who should have no will of their own begin to speak with vivid life. He has been transported to another world uncannily like the game. Showered with the highest respect by the Guardians, the skull-headed sorcerer gazes at the night sky and muses: "World conquest might just be interesting." Volume 19 depicts the beginning of this grand dark fantasy.

The aftermath of the Katze Plains massacre races across the whole continent, and the Kingdom realizes it has effectively lost. Backed by overwhelming force, the Sorcerer Kingdom steadily expands its rule through fear. The Guardians interpret Ainz's every gesture as some "profound scheme," while the man himself keeps reigning even as he sweats internally. This volume sets the conquering Sorcerer Kingdom's governance concretely into motion and paints in dark tones the despair and resignation of the subjugated humans. Beneath a rule that feigns mercy, Ainz's unfathomable nature stands out all the more, and the groundwork for the next invasion is quietly laid.
