Synopsis

Volume 15 of the school SF series centered on Haruhi Suzumiya, endlessly hunting for aliens, time travelers, and espers, and Kyon, the narrator she happened to choose. The accumulated history the SOS Brigade has built together pays off at the crucial moments. Yuki Nagato's quiet, few-worded trust, Mikuru Asahina's growth, and Koizumi's steadfast role give the series its matured atmosphere. Once again Haruhi's free-wheeling ideas sweep up the Brigade, in a volume that blends laughter, wonder, and a touch of bittersweetness late in the manga adaptation.

In this volume a new commotion stirs within the SOS Brigade as one of Haruhi's whims once again tests the balance of the world. Drawing on past experience, Kyon reads the situation calmly and leans on Nagato and Koizumi to halt a chain of anomalies. Torn over aligning with her future self, Mikuru resolves to protect her friends. Koizumi reveals the differing attitudes within the Agency and hints that Haruhi's power may be entering a new stage. In the end, a casual remark from Haruhi herself settles everything, and Kyon realizes anew that she is the very heart and linchpin of the Brigade.
